ACADEMICS

We understand how important academic success is for our students and that is why Waterfall Canyon Academy is very proud of its educational component. Many of our students have a significant history of academic failure or absenteeism as a result of the learning struggles in a traditional academic setting. In the Fall of 2008, Waterfall Canyon Academy opened its own school, known as OakGrove School. Our small school is licensed and accredited through the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools and only provides academics for Waterfall Canyon students only. Class sizes for each classroom range from 4-7 students. Such small class sizes allow our teachers to provide extra personal attention and a less distracting environment.

All core classes are taught at the academy along with daily living skills and social skills training. In addition to the core curriculum, our school incorporates a physical education program offering strength training, judo, yoga and dance. Our students are also very involved in our art and music component which is incorporated into their school day. Each student has the opportunity to receive an official diploma or a GED if necessary.

Most of our students tend to be visual/experiential learners and enjoy hands-on activities. We are tightly connected with the Applied Technology College (ATC). Starting at the age of 16, students may receive high school and college credit while attending this college. The ATC offers over 50 programs to choose from including: woodworking, welding, computer graphics, culinary arts, and cosmetology. These programs are available for our students when and if it is appropriate to their specific situation.At Waterfall Canyon Academy our students find new and rewarding interests thus enhancing their self esteem and identity.
